The charming face of nanotechnology to me is to control architecture at nanoscale. This of particular importance, as we are approaching the molecular scale. In other words, we are dealing with individual molecules to design our architecture. This is somehow like playing with LEGO. In surface science (which is also an area of my research), we can design nanostructured patterns, but extending such architecture to bulk is a real challenge, which is the subject of nanomaterials.

Due to connection with other areas of my research, I am actively working on quite different classes of materials such as
